I took Double to the holistic vet and I received a copy of his blood work & urinalysis (which I forgot at work so I can't quote values)TEXT
This blood work also indicates some problems with his pancreas as well as the kidney's and liver. I think maybe she is not quite sure what to make of the blood work because some things don't make sense such as his coat looks good, he is still eating on his own and if he vomits it is usually not food and he is also concentrating his urine.
She is going to consult with the other 2 holistic vets in the practice and get back to me tomorrow. She also wants me to put him back on colostrum and give him fluids. She also wants me to use a milk thistle tincture instead of the one I have been giving him.

I think the colostrum is a good idea - it doesn't cause any problems for him, does it? Are you currently using milk thistle, or are you using something else?

Yes I have been using the powdered MT. I had stopped the colostrum when he first started having problems with constipation but now knowing his kidney values that is more likely the cause of the constipation than anything else.
Have you ever heard of digestive enzymes causing problems for an animal? After reading up a bit last night I was wondering if they could maybe be causing or increasing his problems with the pancreas which in turn can affect the liver. I left them out of his 2 meals last night and his meal this morning and he seemed to eat better and didn't vomit during the night.

It would be interesting to see how his blood work looked several weeks after stopping them. Shelley, something about these symptoms is tickling away in my brain, just about 2 o'clock on the inside of my cranium. (Honest, it's almost a physical thing.) If I can ever relax enough to let it through, I'll let you know.

If you are interested his a link to his blood work I tried copying it but it kept throughing it out of order. I don't know if it is wishful thinking but I would think that if it was cancer his CBC values would be out. Every time I look I just seem to get more confused. Tonight when I was checking something I found that there shouldn't be glucose in the urine but yet there is and blood glucose is normal.
I also forgot to mention the vet discussed his blood work with the other 2 vets in the clinic and one of them had a cat previously with similiar blood work so they are going to treat him with the same herbal combination that they have been using on the other cat and see how it goes.

this is what the vet has put Double on, along with the milk thistle tincture

It seems to me the lean toward chinese medicine rather than homeopathy.

Have you read 4 Paws, 5 Directions, by Cheryl Schwartz, DVM? It's about the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine with animals. If you're going to continue seeing this vet, I think you'd find the book very helpful. Maybe TCM is what Double needs right now instead of homeopathy.
Did you check out the individual ingredients? Very interesting. Please keep us updated on Double's progress, I'm interested in hearing how this works for him.

I would just like to pipe up and say I found that book very confusing but maybe that's me, and I gave up pretty quickly. I know everyone who's waded through it swears by it though.

I will continue with Double, cost wise I will most likely stick with the other vet for routine things for the other cats. I am seriously considering taking Sweetie there tho. Maybe TCM is what Double needs right now instead of homeopathy. . I was actually relieved that they didn't use Homeopathy. Did you check out the individual ingredients? Very interesting. Please keep us updated on Double's progress, I'm interested in hearing how this works for him. I hadn't but went and checked, they are interesting although I don't think Double has been having Menstral problems I will keep you updated. shelley
